We are proud to offer the following:

Preventative Care

Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene is sometimes referred to as teeth cleaning but it is so much more than that. Our hygienists will review your health history and current medications. Then they will do a thorough examination and charting of the gum tissues and bone that supports your teeth. At the same time they are evaluating your home care [brushing and flossing] effectiveness and the amounts of tartar and stain that have accumulated since your last hygiene appointment. Tartar and stain deposits that are not removed can lead to gum disease, the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. The deposits you can see may be only the tip of the iceberg with large deposits below the gum line. What you can’t see can definitely hurt you!

Digital Diagnostic Radiographs

Digital radiograghy offers numerous advantages over conventional film based radiograghy. It takes less than one quarter of the radiation to expose a digital sensor compared to a conventional xray film. This means a significant reduction in radiation exposure to you, the patient. The image is available immediately for viewing and diagnosis and can be viewed in a variety of settings such as sharpness, contrast or magnification to improve its diagnostic potential. There are no wrappers, lead foil or developing chemicals to pollute the environment. Great for everyone!

Sealants

Sealants are plastic coatings applied to the pits, fissures and grooves of teeth. These areas are difficult and sometimes even impossible to keep clean of the food and bacteria that collect in them and this leads to tooth decay. Sealants are easily applied without the need for freezing or drilling. Although not as durable as fillings, sealants are often used in younger patients to postpone or sometimes prevent a filling. Once placed the sealants will be closely monitored at your recall visits.

Fluoride

Fluoride is absorbed into tooth enamel making it more resistant to tooth decay. Saskatoon residents benefit from fluoridated drinking water. Your resistance to tooth decay will be even further enhanced by an application of concentrated fluoride immediately after a cleaning by one of our dental assistants or hygienists. If we don’t have your preferred flavor let our staff know and we will make every effort to have it at your next cleaning.

Proform Mouthguards

Athletic mouthguards are an essential part of your sports equipment. Even in non-contact sports such as basketball, an errant elbow to the mouth or chin can bring a world of hurt to the teeth, jaws or jaw joints. The mouthguard provides a protective cover over the upper teeth and a force absorbing cushion between the upper and lower teeth. At All Smiles Dental we offer custom fitted Proform mouthguards in a variety of colors. When properly fitted these mouthguards have a snug fit and speaking with them in is not a problem. We have discounted the Suggested Fee Guide fee for this important service so that it is affordable for everyone who needs it. All it takes is a simple impression. We make the mouthguards on site and in many cases we can offer same day service.

Restorative Dentistry

Composite Fillings

Sometimes referred to as tooth colored or white fillings, composite fillings are widely accepted to be the material of choice when a filling is needed for a number of reasons. The most obvious one is they look great. The advances in shade and polishability make it possible to blend these fillings in with the natural tooth enamel. Composite filling material is used with dentin and enamel bonding techniques that make the fillings adhesive to tooth structure. This often means less drilling as the mechanical retention features of an amalgam filling are no longer required. The dentists at All Smiles Dental routinely use a desensitizing agent under all fillings and crowns to lessen the chances of sensitivity after the procedure.

Crowns

This is a procedure of covering a tooth with an artificial protective shell. Where necessary the dentist reduces the tooth surface so that when the crown is added the resulting tooth is the desired size and shape. After the tooth is reduced an impression is taken and a temporary crown is fabricated. Permanent crowns are available in a variety of materials for various situations. All tooth colored crowns are custom shaded to match your natural teeth. At All Smiles no crown is permanently cemented without your inspection and approval.

Bridges

Bridge is a term used when one or more false teeth are permanently attached to the adjacent natural teeth. This is most commonly done using crowns on the teeth supporting the bridge. The false tooth is made of the same material as the adjacent crowns and the bridge is fabricated as a single unit but shaped to give the illusion of individual teeth. The false tooth can also be shaped and positioned to give the illusion of a tooth with a root imbedded in the gums and jawbone, just like a natural tooth. Dentists use the term fixed to describe something that is permanently attached. A fixed bridge therefore is not removable for cleaning and must be brushed and flossed in your mouth, just like your teeth. A bridge is one of the ways your dentist can use to replace that missing tooth.

Conscious Sedation

Oral ‘Pill’

The dentists and staff at All Smiles Dental will make every effort to see that your visit is as comfortable and stress free as possible. If you are particularly anxious about your upcoming visit, an oral tranquilizer can be prescribed by your dentist. Typically you would take the medication the night before to ensure a restful nights sleep and then again a suitable length of time prior to your appointment. These steps should significantly reduce the anxiety in even the most fearful patient.

Nitrous Oxide

Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a useful tool in our dental office. It is a sedative in gas form and is administered using a disposable soft nose hood. Almost the instant you start inhaling the sedative you begin to feel its relaxing effect. At the end of the appointment and shortly after switching to oxygen or room air the effects subside. You leave the office without any after effects other than the satisfaction that your treatment for that visit is complete. Although most commonly used for our younger patients, our nitrous oxide system is available to anyone who requests it.

Orthodontics

Clear Aligners

If the position of one or more of your front teeth cause you to be less confident with your smile than you would like then clear aligners may be just the treatment option you are looking for. After determining exactly what you would liked changed, the dentist takes an impression of your teeth and a model of your teeth is poured in stone. The offending tooth or teeth on the model are separated from the model and repositioned slightly. A thin clear hard plastic sheet is adapted to this model and trimmed off at the gum line. When placed in your mouth this clear shell is barely noticeable. It will put pressure on your tooth to move it in the direction you desire. The tooth on the model can be repositioned in small increments making a series of clear aligners to achieve the final result you are looking for. For minor corrections it works great but for larger tooth movements the number of appliances may be prohibitive and an alternate form of orthodontics may be preferred.

Braces

Although All Smiles Dental does not have any specialist Orthodontists on staff we do offer full mouth orthodontics using fixed [braces] and removable appliances to correct a wide range of malocclusions. If you would like to know whether we can treat you or your child make an appointment for a free orthodontic evaluation.

Myofunctional Orthodontics

Myofunctional orthodontics is a term describing appliances that use and train oral muscles to promote proper breathing, swallowing and posture and discourage harmful habits. These muscular influences have a tremendous effect on whether your teeth are straight or not. If the teeth are straightened by braces without the muscle function correction then the result will be very unstable and relapse almost a certainty. Your orthodontic evaluation and diagnosis at AllSmiles Dental will determine if you or your child would benefit from these types of appliances.

Periodontics
This is the area of dentistry that deals with the treatment of the gums and bone supporting the teeth. A very important area since gum disease is the leading cause for tooth loss in adults. The foundation for any periodontal treatment plan consists of home care (primarily brushing and flossing) and regular hygiene visits. At All Smiles Dental your home care is evaluated at every visit and if problem areas exist they are pointed out. If need be we will coach you on cleaning these areas better. We have expanded our office and increased the number of dental hygienists on staff to make it easier to get your hygiene appointments when you need them. If the gum disease is advanced and can’t be managed with home care and regular hygiene appointments a referral to a specialist periodontist may be indicated.
Endodontics
Fear not the root canal! It has gotten a lot of bad press over the years that it doesn’t deserve. The process of cleaning out, disinfecting and sealing up the pulp chamber and canals on a tooth can be a tedious process but not a painful one. Freezing the tooth is key and at All Smiles Dental we have a number of techniques to do just that.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are titanium anchors that are placed in the jaw bone where a tooth root used to be. The bone heals around and actually fuses to the implant making it amazingly strong. Its uses in modern dentistry are practically endless. In its simplest form your dentist can fasten a crown to it to replace a single lost tooth. If you are missing a number of teeth then multiple implants can be placed to support multiple crowns or bridges. A partial denture can be made without the unsightly clasps but rather have hidden attachments that snap onto your implants. A complete denture can be made in much the same way giving you more retention and confidence than you can imagine. You and your dentist can discuss the application that is right for you.
Oral Surgery
Wisdom teeth – those pesky third molars that try to squeeze themselves into whatever space is left back there. Your All Smiles dentist will determine if there is enough room for the wisdom tooth to align itself properly. If there is not or for any reason a tooth has to be removed we will take care of it for you. We do most of the extractions ourselves but if complications are likely we call up our friends the Oral Surgeons for a helping hand.

Direct Billing Insurance Plans

All Smiles Dental Group recognizes that insurance forms and policies can be complicated. It is our goal to simplify this part of your dental visit as well. As such, we process insurance claims and accept payment (direct bill) directly from your insurance company. At the time of your appointment, if applicable, your insurance will be processed electronically. If your insurance informs us of their payable portion at the time of service, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance.

However, due to some privacy policies, communication with insurance companies can be difficult and we appreciate your patience and cooperation. Although we will do all we can to help you with your dental insurance, it is your responsibility to understand your dental benefits coverage and we encourage you to ask your insurance company if you are unsure of your coverage amounts.

Our office policy for those who choose to have us be paid directly from their insurance company is to leave a valid credit card on your file and any unpaid balances from insurance will be automatically applied to your credit card.

For those who do not wish to leave a credit card, we will be more than happy to submit to your insurance on your behalf and have the insurance company reimburse you, the policy holder.

Your dental health is important to us; therefore, we recommend treatments according to your needs, not what is covered by your insurance benefits. Please keep in mind that the benefit coverage is a contract between yourself and the insurance company, not All Smiles Dental Group.
